In its 26th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN RISE, today announced Kaila Barber of Midpark High School as its 2010-11 Gatorade Ohio Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Barber is the first Gatorade Ohio Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year to be chosen from Midpark High School.

The 25th Annual CAPITAL CITY STRIDERS INVITATIONAL TRACK MEET WILL BE held on Friday June 10th beginning at 4:30 PM and SATURDAY JUNE 11 at 8:00 AM in University of Charleston Stadium AT LAIDLEY FIELD.
All age group competitors from 4 to 84 are welcomed.
Entry form my be picked up at Laidley Field from 6 to 8 PM or at the Embassy Suites Headquarters RM 230 on Friday.

BREAKING NEWS: Tianna Valentine and Peyton Chaney have been invited to participate in the Adidas Gran Prix in New York City on June 11th,thus joining Daniel Everett who was previously invited to compete.
The Louisville Track & Field Club and Fern Creek Track & Field will host their 3rd annual Summer Track & Field Series in 2011. Below is the Schedule of events for each day.
Last year Shelby Hayes of Winter Park was invited to participate in the "Dream Mile". This year the adidas-sponsored meet is also adding a "Dream 100." They will invite the top prep runners in those events in the national to compete on the same track as the pros. There are also three changes to auto-qualify for the meet in the "Golden Stripes" series, one of which is our own Golden South. Marvin Bracy of Boone was named in the first round of invitations to go out yesterday.

Local Youth triple and double on Gold Medals at Southern AAU Indoor Championships
The United States Olympic Committee and USA Track and Field (USATF) announced today that the University of Miami's Director of Track and Field Amy Deem has been selected as the women's head coach for Team USA's track and field squad for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

While this doesn't impact Cross Country and Track and Field immediately if the issue passes, Consideration will be given to add other sports in the future.
In its 26th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN RISE, today announced Michelle Thomas of Glen Este High School as its 2010-11 Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. Thomas is the first Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Glen Este High School.
While this proposed change would not have an effect on Track and Field or Cross Country right away, the two sports may be effected by it in the future.
The OATCCC made two significant proposals to the OHSAA that would affect the 2011 tournament and beyond. Part of the proposal process is to report back to the OHSAA the perceptions and opinions of the membership of our association before a motion is made to accept or deny the proposal. In October, our membership was surveyed for their perceptions and opinions for the two proposals. A summary of that information follows here.
Cardinal Gibbons senior Macy Huskey has verbally committed to run for the University of Florida next year. The Miami Herald's High School Athlete of the Year in 2009, she is the two-time defending county champion in the mile (1600), and a two-time first team All-County cross country runner in the Sun-Sentinel. Macy has personal bests of 5:01.91 (1600), 2:19 (800) and 19:23 in cross country.
